When challenges confront me in work, life and study I think on what the Masters achieved in an era where day to day challenges were far in excess of anything I might be dealing with. Basic essentials must have been so much harder to come by. Light, space, shelter, materials, food, clothing, heating, good health - life and work conditions often dependent on social and political affiliations. Ours is a different relationship now. There is a subtle change between city and visitor, borne of some familiarity and a shift in focus between Septembers.
