

Cracking through clouds with colour and clarity
I think perhaps the light of Autumn lends itself best to this city. Firenze looks flushed and golden, bathing in glorious sunlight, fresh and clean after Autumn showers, feathers fluffed and ready to be noticed. Our faces too turn toward the warm sun, smiling and soaking in it's welcome rays. Like Geckos we seek out warm walls and sun traps to rest a while. Face peering up towards the sun I notice more examples of wonderful sculpture dotted among the architecture, almost out


Streetlife
Like many of my favourite cities I feel Florence is best explored on foot. That way we have time to fully take in it's secrets, to stand and stare at what is around us - and most importantly - to look up. Firenze's narrow streets lend themselves, inviting the eye to rise up from street level, past the wrought ironwork of old street lanterns, past the serene blue Pietra Serena stone of windows, steps and facades, to the wooden shutters, eaves and terracotta tiles of sun-drench


Homecoming
Wonderful to be back, embracing bright summer days, cottonwool clouds, a lazy Arno and peaceful olive groves. The familiar sounds of opening shutters, passing scooters, church bells and ambulance sirens (once heard - never forgotten). The warm golden tones of old buildings, the cool shade under high vine-clad loggia, walking upon worn flagstones and ancient steps, climbing green hills and through the Rose Garden to greet the green 'David' and savour a timeless view - the rich
