Where there is water there is life
"The tree that is beside the running water is fresher and gives more fruit."
Saint Teresa of Avila
One of the things I admire around this beautiful city are the many hand-sculpted water fountains. Oftentimes found on the corner of streets and intersections, cleverly blending with the Renaissance architecture, the running water plies our senses in passing. Cool refreshment in the heat, calming sounds pervading the busy clammer of city life. They call for us to stop and take a moment to enjoy their features and welcome cooling spray. I wonder about the people responsible for these practical and sensory works of art - and thank them.
