Sanctuary

I confess to a growing obsession. A distant love affair if you like - a quiet observance and collection of tiny rooftop sanctuaries - havens of solitude and peace dotted about the uppermost terracotta canopies of the city and lovingly tended by residents. Creative patches of green nurtured in any and all space afforded. Sharing views with church bells, nesting birds and chimney stacks, they draw me in and speak of memories made and relationships forged over glasses of chianti, witnessing slow sunsets and serenaded by the evening chorus.
